Gay former police officer's story to receive national attention

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is calling on a local man to help push the passing of a bill that would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Former Audubon Park Police officer Kile Nave claims he was discriminated against and wrongly fired because he is gay.

Last month, the Metro Human Relations Commission sided with Nave.

Nave says he was contacted by Senator Harry Reid's office this week, asking permission to tell his story as part of the debate on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

The senate majority leader's office told Nave the speech was prepared and expected to be presented on Wednesday.
