LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The City of New Albany says it intends to file a complaint with the Indiana Utilities Regulatory Commission about a project in the Kenzig Road area.

A news release from the city says it believes "common construction and development standards, which the city adheres to, do not appear to be being met."  It's also concerned about the clear cutting of hardwood trees.

LG&E is leading the project at the end of Kenzig Road. The utility company told WDRB it is putting in a transmission line which requires a certain amount of clearance alongside it. LG&E spokesperson Natasha Collins said this is required by federal law in order to avoid power outages caused by downed trees.

Collins also said they had to clear a road back to where the transmission line is being installed. Those trees, she said, will be replaced once the project is complete.

New Albany is also encouraging those involved to hold a public hearing about the project.

LG&E said they have not received any formal complaints from the city of New Albany.
