The Louisville Slugger Museum is hosting its annual auction featuring rare baseball memorabilia from some of the league's icons. Among other big items on the block, David Hunt from Hunt Auctions is helping sell the personal collection of Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame second baseman Bill Mazeroski.
This historic archive of materials relating to Mazeroski's career and iconic World Series Game 7 walk-off home run will be offered for the first time at public auction on Saturday, November 9, 2013 as part of Hunt Auctions 10th Annual Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory Live Auction. The full description of all 697 items up for sale is available online at www.huntauctions.com
Regarded as one of the finest defensive players of his era Bill Mazeroski enjoyed a storied career with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1956-1972 and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001. While recognized for his defensive abilities and two World Championship seasons with the Pirates in 1960 and 1971 he will be forever immortalized due to his dramatic walk off home run in game 7 of the 1960 World Series.
As a proud sponsor of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Hunt Auctions is pleased to note that a portion of the proceeds from the Mazeroski items in the auction will be donated to Pirates Charities.
