LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Red Cross is helping several families after a southern Indiana apartment complex went up in flames.

Eight units in the Autumn Ridge apartments in Corydon were damaged by a fire that started after midnight Thursday.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of the building.  The flames were so intense they even burned bikes that were sitting outside.  Everyone was able to get out safely.

Housing director Paula Craig said, "The Red Cross has stepped in to provide hotels until Monday as well as clothing and food.  We're looking to try to relocate, if it's salvageable or not.

Investigators are still working to figure out how the fire started.
