HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB) -- One person was killed this morning in a crash involving two vehicles in Harrison County.

According to a news release from Indiana State Police, it happened just before 7:30 a.m. on S.R. 135 at the intersection of Fairview Church Road.

The results of a preliminary investigation indicate that a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Denise L. Meitzler, 53, from Corydon, Indiana was traveling eastbound on Fairview Church Road, according to the news release.

Police say Meitzler failed to stop at a stop sign continued onto S.R. 135. That's where her vehicle was struck in the passenger side by a 1998 Dodge pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Paul F. Roberts from New Salisbury, Indiana.

Meitzler's 6-year-old grandchild was in the vehicle when she was struck. All three people were taken by ambulance to the Harrison County Hospital. That's where Meitzler was pronounced dead.

The child was transferred from the Harrison County Hospital by helicopter to the Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville with serious injuries.

Roberts suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say seatbelts and safety restraints were in use by all involved in the crash.
