Mercy Academy receives national attention for telling students they're not princesses

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Mercy Academy is getting national attention for telling their students they are not princesses.

The all-girls college prep school launched a new ad campaign to lure new students.  The ads simply state that "Life is not a fairytale" and urges students to prepare for real life.

The message is being applauded by media and pundits.

Mercy Academy released a statement saying the campaign is risky because so many young women grow up in a society where they want to be a princess.

The school says its message is that girls need to realize they are more than a princess and don't need a prince to save them.
