LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Accusations of unethical behavior, sexual harassment, and stealing at Metro Corrections are coming not from inmates, but from a former employee who was just fired.
The former Metro Corrections Spokeswoman is speaking out for the first time and she's making some serious accusations about the Director there.
Kelly Feiock says, "The crazy thing is there wasn't a good reason why I was fired. They say I leaked information." Feiock was fired a month ago.
A termination letter in her personnel file says she leaked information from an internal investigation to a potential target of that investigation. Feiock says she just told a co-worker to be careful after she learned a reporter was looking into allegations that he was misusing company time.
But she says when she became a whistle blower, she got fired. Feiock says, "Metro Government preaches they want to know about unethical behavior and they will not tolerate retaliation, and yet that's the situation I'm in because I reported something unethical that happened at Corrections."
Feiock says in September she made a complaint to the Metro Ethics Commission saying another employee was stealing time from Corrections by not clocking out while working out. Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton says the investigation into that employee was completed and not sustained.
Feiock says, "I am so ethical and moral, that's what makes it amazing, and I think that was my liability as well because I would not go with corruptness that was going on at Corrections."
She goes on to say, "This is just unbelievable. My credibility is everything. I am personally the person who rescues animals, who gave a kidney to a friend. At work professionally, I am the one who exposed an attorney for forging subpoenas and unearthed an employee who was stealing time."
Feiock also makes other claims against Bolton about falsifying prison data and sexual harassment, allegations Bolton vehemently denies.
Feiock is appealing her termination and wants her job back.
Bolton issued a statement to WDRB News. He says, "We conducted a formal investigation that led to Ms. Feiock's termination. The investigation confirmed she leaked confidential information. Metro stands behind that investigation."
He goes on to say, "A second investigation has been opened because after Ms. Feiock was terminated the department found other evidence of misconduct and deception. That investigation will be completed promptly. If there is any merit to any of Ms. Feiock's allegations, (which there is not) these allegations will be investigated and LMDC will fully cooperate. "
"These allegations are nothing more than a parting shot of a person who was fired. That is not unusual, just unfortunate" Bolton says.
Louisville Mayor's Spokesman Chris Poynter says, "The termination letter of Kelly Feiock speaks for itself."
