LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentuckiana lends a helping hand to those hurt by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Today more than 300 volunteers with "Kids Against Hunger" helped package up meals at the Kids Against Hunger packaging center.
Some of the volunteers had a personal connection to the aftermath of the super storm that left thousands without food.
"Just to help. A friend of mine from work told me about it, I'm from the Philippines, you know I've known a lot of people that were affected over there. Some of them were really close to me," said volunteer Maria Lafavers.
Today more than 21,000 meals were packaged to send to the Philippines.
And at least 20,000 are to be prepared tomorrow.
