LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Parents face a difficult decision in the state's largest school district -- where to place their child in school.
Especially those entering their first years in the classroom
JCPS attempts to make that decision a little easier by offering the showcase of schools.
It was held today at the Kentucky International Convention Center
There, parents could talk in person with representatives of the various schools.
Just this week, the district announced a comprehensive plan to look at its facilities.
As population shifts move east and southeast in the county, JCPS is considering closing some old schools and possibly building new ones.
"I think it's a great thing. I think it's great for parents to get an overview of what all the elementary schools have to offer. Not just on paper but to physically talk to somebody," says Cary Brown.
For the most part -- the district says it currently has enough seats for all its students through 2017. But after that might now always be the case.
The elementary school application period runs from Monday November 18th to January 10th.
