Victim's name released in fatal accident at Chestnut and 26th streets

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One man is dead after a fatal car accident that happened close to noon on Sunday. 

A man driving a Monte Carlo was traveling northbound on 26th Street when witnesses say he ran a traffic light.

The Monte Carlo was then hit by a Hyundai that was traveling east on Chestnut Street.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Dionta Irwin of Louisville.  He was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene at 11:58 a.m.

LMPD Spokesman Dwight Mitchell says the accident is under investigation at this time.
