LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Muldraugh man is in critical condition after police say a confrontation in which shots were fired ended with the man shooting himself.
It happened just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Kentucky State Police trooper along with officers from the Muldraugh, Brandenburg, and West Point Police departments and Meade County Sheriff's Office went to a home on Main Street in Muldraugh.
Officers heard a shot fired inside the house as they arrived, and say 31-year-old John Price came out from beneath the home's front porch with several weapons.
Police say they tried to speak to Price, but that he fired a weapon, and the KSP trooper returned fire.
Meade Co. Sheriff Butch Kerrick says Price then shot himself in the head. Initial reports that he died from his wounds turned out to be mistaken. He was airlifted to University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
