Grimes calls Photoshopped picture of herself "sexist"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A racy, Photoshopped picture of Alison Lundergan Grimes is tweeted, and she immediately condemns it, calling it "sexist."

The photo shows Grimes' face on the body of "Obama Girl," a model who made racy videos about her crush on then-Senator Barack Obama in 2007.

The woman is wearing a tight Obama t-shirt with her midriff showing.

Grimes is the Democratic front-runner to take on U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who faces Matt Bevin in the GOP primary.

National Republican Senatorial Committee spokeswoman Brook Hougesen called the tweet "extremely offensive" and said Tuesday that steps have been taken to ensure that such it never happens again.

Members of "Women for Team Mitch" criticized Grimes Wednesday for what they said was her refusal to talk about the issues and only speaking out about sexism when it benefited her directly.

Former Congresswoman Anne Northup said in a news release, "I am completely confused about why Alison Grimes is running and doesn't want to discuss the compelling issues of this day: healthcare and coal as part of the energy equation."
