LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New Albany Police say they have conducted a roundup of nearly two dozen illegal drug suspects.
It was the result of a six-month police investigation. They issued 26 arrest warrants and took 23 of those suspects into custody.
Police call drug use a moving target. The issue of illegal prescription drug use has shifted to heroin. Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson said, "Even though that's still prevalent, it's not as prevalent as it was. We've seen heroin, though, make a huge impact in our community, again, within the last six months. I think, not just Floyd County, I think, but the entire region."
Henderson also said since laws have cracked down on prescription drug use, people are turning to heroin because it's cheaper and easier to find on the street. He said he will aggressively prosecute those suspects.
