LMPD shooting victim arrested for shoplifting at Walmart

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The shooting victim of former LMPD Detective Chauncey Carthan is arrested on charges of theft at a Louisville Walmart.

West Beuchel Police say 23-year-old Ishmael Gough was caught shoplifting at the Walmart on Bashford Manor Lane. Police say loss prevention officials at the store asked Gough last week not to return.

Police arrested Gough Wednesday after they say he attempted to walk out of the Walmart with bags stuffed with items.

In September 2012, Gough was allegedly shot without cause by former Det. Carthan at 24th and Chestnut.

Carthan, who admitted to the shooting and has since resigned from LMPD, will go to trial on April 21, 2014, on charges of wanton endangerment, professional misconduct and DUI.

Gough has also filed a civil suit against both Carthan and Metro Louisville.
