Indiana senator gives money earned during shutdown to food banks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly is giving part of his paycheck to food banks across Indiana -- and a city in our area will benefit.

Donnelley earned $5,000 in take-home pay during the federal government shutdown.  He wrote $500 checks to ten food banks across the state, including Hope Southern Indiana in New Albany.

Donnelley says one charity, Feeding America, estimates more than one million Hoosiers last year were "food insecure," meaning they didn't always know where they'd find their next meal.
