U of L and UK students robbed, police searching for suspects

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are looking for a man they say committed three robberies on or near the U of L campus this week.

U of L Police say it happened on Monday and Tuesday nights and the suspect got away with backpacks and personal items.

One was at the railroad underpass on 3rd Street, another was at 4th and Lee Streets and the last robbery was behind the Betty Johnson dorms.

In two of the robberies, the suspect displayed a handgun. 

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build, about 6'1" to 6'2".  He was wearing dark clothing.

U of L Asst. Police Chief Kenneth Brown says, "I know LMPD have put in additional resources in the area. We have put in additional resources in the area, so we are looking very hard."

The University of Kentucky Police Department issued a Crime Bulletin after a report of a robbery on campus around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the male suspect pepper sprayed a female U-K student, then took her phone before taking off.

Police say he's white man, approximately 18 to 22 years old, 5 foot 5 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a black jacket , black pants, orange hat and gray shoes.

Lexington Police are also investigating two other robberies that occurred off campus, in the Transylvania Park area.
