Jennifer Lawrence isn't the only "Catching Fire" actor with Kentucky connections

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jennifer Lawrence isn't the only Catching Fire actor with Kentucky connections. It's no secret it's her hometown. "I had a nephew born a few years ago so now I can't stay away from him so I get home like every other month."

Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta to her Katniss, is a Union, Kentucky native. "I go back a lot. I have a younger brother who's still in high school. It's so nice to leave everything and go back there and relax, a little safe haven."

Woody Harrelson, as drunken mentor Haymitch Abernathy, also claims ties to Kentucky and Indiana. He attended Hanover College. "I love Louisville. That was where I first started. When I was in college I would go there and hang out because my buddy was an indentured servant there at Actors Theatre of Louisville."

For actress Elizabeth Banks, nearly unrecognizable as Effie Trinket, a trip to Kentucky was life-changing. "When I think of Louisville, I think of two things: basketball and Seabiscuit when we shot down there, that was one of my first big movies."

She also got engaged in Kentucky, at a Lexington restaurant. "I did, at Malone's Steak House. I got engaged in Kentucky, that's true."

One thing that's made the Catching Fire star Jennifer Lawrence so popular with her fans is that she's herself, with no filter. It's made her a hit with her co-workers too, who say they never know what to expect on the set.

Actor Sam Claflin, who joins the cast as Finnick Odair, says he was nervous and intimidated about meeting Lawrence when he first walked onto the set, but quickly made a friend for life. "A lot of actors, when you're walking around on the set, you start going a little mad then you only have to look at Jen and realize there's someone more mad!"

Lenny Kravitz, who plays stylist Cinna, agrees. "Well she doesn't edit herself which I love. There's no filter. It just comes straight out. She'll go there, she'll go to that place to get that reaction."

Sam Claflin says he and Lawrence share one trait that had them laughing on the set:  "Her ability to constantly fall over nothing kept everyone laughing a lot. The two of us kind of were in competition to see who could fall over the most."

Harrelson says "she's perpetually hysterical, definitely one of the funniest people I've ever met, like all the time."

Lawrence is obviously a lot of fun to work with. But she also gets high praise for her talent from her co-stars, including legendary actor Donald Sutherland, the evil President Snow. When asked what makes her stand out as an actress, he says "Every gesture is a truthful one. It's not mechanical or something she decides, it's just there. She's perfect."

He says it's not something you can learn as an actor, or there'd be hundreds of people doing it. He says her talent cannot be compared with anyone else in the business, saying it would be someone who's a genius, and they don't come along very often.
