Settlement means millions for Indiana drivers

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Millions of Indiana drivers are getting some extra cash in their pockets.  A judge approved a $30 million settlement and drivers will receive refunds of $3.50 to $15 each.

The suit filed earlier this year accused the Bureau of Motor Vehicles of overcharging state residents by tens of millions of dollars for driver's licenses.

The BMV will provide refunds as credits on future transactions or through checks that can be requested through the BMV's website.

People who don't collect their refunds will be sent checks when a final accounting is conducted in three years.
