LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U of L Cardinal junior guard Kevin Ware has pleaded guilty to speeding in a work zone and reckless driving charges in Barren County, Ky. and will pay a fine.  The speeding charge was amended to speeding 25 miles an hour over the limit.

He must pay a fine and costs amounting to $268.00.  That amount must be paid by May 23 of next year.

Ware failed to appear for a previous court date, and it ended up being rescheduled.  He showed up 15 minutes early on Monday, arriving with his girlfriend.

"It was a mistake," Ware said outside court, "and I'm truly sorry for it, but I'm going to move past it and move on."

He got an earful from Coach Rick Pitino about the incident:  "He chewed me out about being smart when I was driving, I was driving with my teammate in the car."

The police officer who made the original citation said that he tracked Ware in his vehicle, a black 2013 Dodge Challenger, for a half-mile while he was traveling south on I-65 at 11:04 p.m. Oct. 26, a Saturday.

Ware became a national story when he suffered a compound fracture to his right leg during the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
