I-65 in Hart County reopens after semi crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Interstate 65 in Hart County reopened Tuesday afternoon, several hours after a semi crash.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and law enforcement decided to make their priority removing the tractor portion of the truck and cleaning up the northbound driving lanes, where diesel had spilled.  Threatening weather conditions were one factor in the decision.

Once that cleanup is finished, the southbound shoulder (left side) was to be closed and caution tape placed around the semi-trailer.  Message boards will also provide warnings before the crash site.

Workers will return after Thanksgiving weekend to clean up the semi-trailer and cargo.

The Transportation Cabinet warns drivers that US31W through Munfordville, Bonnieville, and Upton is very congested, and suggests driver need to use caution at intersections.
