LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local family has gone all out for the holidays.

George Smithers and his family have been spreading holiday cheer from every room in their Shawnee neighborhood home for more than 20 years, via a model of "Christmas Village."

The whole collection consists of more than 500 pieces including churches, elves, people, trees and more. The Christmas Village takes up three levels of North Pole scenes depicting Santa's home, Candyland, a reindeer training camp and others.

Smithers credits his father for beginning the tradition with his collection of animated Santa figures.

He started constructing and organizing the display in May so everything was ready to be assembled starting Halloween night.
