Light Up Louisville and Christmas at the Galt House are two of Louisville's happiest holiday traditions. But this year's editions just may capture the spirit of the season better than ever before.
Why? Because, you see, this year's Sing 'n' Joy International Choral Festival and Competition – which features choirs from all around the world -- had invited a group from Manila in the Philippines to participate. In light of the terrible devastation that area suffered in the recent typhoon, it was feared they wouldn't be able to make it.
As it turns out, however, the Filipino group did make it to Louisville. And as a gesture of gratitude and support, the Red Cross, WDRB, the City of Louisville and the Galt House Hotel are teaming up to establish the American Red Cross Philippines Typhoon Relief Fund. Two dollars will be donated to this fund for every ticket sold to either of this weekend's two Sing ‘N' Joy concerts at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, Saturday at 8:00 and Sunday at 3:00, and attending either of these shows will be great way to kick off your personal holiday season while knowing you're also making a positive difference in the lives of others.
You can find out more at WDRB.com, so please -- come downtown and take in all the great Light Up Louisville events tomorrow, check out one of the Sing ‘N' Joy concerts this weekend and make this the happiest Thanksgiving yet!
