LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville's mayor announced the formation of a 36 member team on Monday, compromised of local chefs, entrepreneurs, bourbon distillers, and tourism officials. The team will focus on one goal for the city, making the Louisville food and drink scene the best in the world.
The goal will be "to develop a plan to promote Louisville as he best culinary and beverage city in the world" says Mayor Fischer "to attract national and international travels...obviously the best in the world."
Mayor Greg Fischer says the group will work over the next four months to craft a plan for city leaders that will utilize both private and public partnerships.
The mayor says he'd like outsiders to think of Louisville for food and bourbon in the same way many view Napa Valley for wine.
He says the result will not only mean more visitors but also more jobs.
As part of the plan, the group will develop a downtown bourbon tourism center.
