Jeffersonville, Ind. city council agrees to overhaul marina

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Jeffersonville, Ind. is moving ahead with its plans to overhaul its marina on the Ohio River.

Jeffersonville's city council voted unanimously to approve the $2.2 million marina and fishing pier.

The plan calls for 54 individual voting docks, and a 200-foot floating fishing pier.

Mayor Mike Moore says houseboats have to move out of the marina by Jan. 1.

About a half-dozen people have been living at the marina year-round.

"This is something that has been an embarrassment to the city for decades," Moore said. "I believe the people of Jeffersonville were heard and the city council who had questions -- once they started listening the people of Jeff -- they saw this is a project that we need to do."
