Inmate dies in Metro Corrections; believed to be of natural causes

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - An inmate at Louisville Metro Corrections was found dead this morning in his cell from what appears to be natural causes.

Charles Donlon, 55, was found in his bed at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday when officers went to serve him breakfast, said Dwayne Clark, Chief of Staff for Metro Corrections.

Donlon was housed alone in a cell and had been an inmate since Sept. 22, when he was arrested on bench warrants.

An autopsy is being performed and a review by Louisville Metro Police and Corrections is underway. Both practices are standard procedures anytime a death occurs in the jail.

Metro Corrections has not been able to contact Donlon's family. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office is asking next of kin to contact them at 547-6262.
