LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - University of Louisville women's basketball player Antonita Slaughter collapsed tonight during a game against Missouri State at the KFC Yum! Center. The cause is still unknown, but Slaughter is conscious at Jewish Hospital and answering questions from doctors.
The game halted for a few minutes as Slaughter was attended to and taken off the court on a stretcher. It initially appeared that the she had suffered a seizure, but the cause of her episode is still unclear.
Doctors plan to run tests to learn why the player passed out and the cause will not be determined until those tests have been completed.
Play resumed afterward and coach Jeff Walz will be available to the press after the game.
