LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has released the identity of a man killed in a crash on the Second Street Bridge (also known as the Clark Memorial Bridge) Wednesday afternoon.
That man has been identified as 64-year-old Everett Prater, who lived in the 3900 block of Hwy. 1098 in Jackson, Ky. The coroner's office says he died during surgery at University Hospital at 5:17 p.m. The cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash with a dump truck.
Metro Police say they responded to the crash around 3:45 p.m. Officials say Prater was driving a blue Pontiac in the northbound lanes and lost control, swerving into the southbound lanes, where it hit a dump truck. Police say they do not know why he lost control of the car.
The bridge was reopened just after 6:30 p.m.
In late October, the bridge was closed for another crossover fatal crash -
that one involving a BMW.
