RADCLIFF, Ky. (WDRB) - Kentucky Utilities is reporting widespread power outages in Radcliff and Vine Grove.
A spokesperson for LG&E/KU says about 5400 people are experiencing outages in the Hardin County area. They say the outage is being caused by a problem with a transmission line.
The transmission lines carry large amounts of power that will be divided and then sent out to homes. the spokesperson says large scale outages accompany problems with the transmission lines.
Crews are in the area attempting to get the power restored and hope to have the problem fixed around 6:30 p.m.
The cause of the problems with the transmission line are currently unknown.
UPDATE: LG&E/KU has said they have re-routed power and restored service to about 4200 customers.
The outage was due to a piece of equipment that failed, a spokesperson says the failure may have been simple wear and tear from use. The equipment has been isolated and is being repaired by crews.
The company will continue to try to re-route power in order to restore power to the remaining customers still experiencing outages. If they are unable to do that, then power will not be able to be restored until the equipment is repaired. It could be up to several hours before power is fully restored.
UPDATE: 7:24 p.m. Power has been restored to all customers.
