LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---Hundreds of kids with special needs, received a Christmas gift this weekend that they won't soon forget.
Sunday was the annual holiday party for Kosair Charities.
Coach Rick Pitino and the U of L men's basketball team made an appearance at the event.
For some of the kids on hand, this may be the only gift they receive for the holidays.
Senior guard, Russ Smith, says he enjoyed meeting the kids and signing autographs.
"This is really nice though. To get up on a Sunday and do this, it has to be for a special occasion, and this is definitely one of them," says Russ Smith.
"Often times, a lot of families don't have Merry Christmases, so if we can just brighten anyone's life for even just a few hours, it's better than winning any basketball game," says U of L Coach Rick Pitino.
More than 500 kids received gifts, and took part in face-painting and other activities.
