LOUISVILLE, Kent. (WDRB) --- Bowl selections became official Sunday, and the opponent many of the Louisville football players said they were hoping for will be the team the Cardinals face in the Russell Athletic Bowl - the Miami Hurricanes.
The bowl game will take place Saturday, December 28th in Orlando, Florida. Here's a primer on the match-up between soon to be fellow Atlantic Coast conference teams, beginning next season:
Series History: Louisville is 1-9-1 all-time vs. Miami
Last Meeting: 2006 (Louisville beat Miami 31-7 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium)
Florida's Finest: A combined 95 players on both teams' rosters are from the Sunshine State (57 Hurricanes, and 39 Cardinals, and 23 of those Cards from the Miami area)

RB Duke Johnson: leading rusher in 2013, but out for the season after fracturing his ankle in Miami's 41-14 loss at Florida State last month. Dallas Crawford leads the Canes with 12 rushing TDs.
WR Allen Hurns: 2nd in the ACC with 1138 receiving yards on 60 receptions with 6 touchdowns
Miami Defense: 82nd in scoring defense (30.5 ppg), 102nd in passinig defense, 112th in rushing defense, 57th in takeaways with 22 forced turnovers

Godfather of both programs, Howard Schnellenberger told WDRB's Rick Bozich if he goes to Orlando Dec. 28, he'll sit with UofL one half, Miami the other.
