SLIDESHOW: Southern Indiana authorities arrest 26 drug suspects

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was an early morning round up in Harrison County, Ind. and surrounding areas as police arrested 26 people on drug charges.

One by one, people were getting handcuffed and arrested.

One 43-year-old woman, Tracy Reynolds who was in tears, is charged with dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of a family housing complex.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Department says it started this narcotics investigation in February -- and with 33 warrants, 26 people have been arrested so far.

The sting started at 4 a.m.

"We have a couple of individuals in Louisville that we're trying to pick up later this afternoon," said Harrison County Sheriff Rod Seelye. "We were in New Albany this morning, with the help of the New Albany Police Department, and we were also in Crawford County and made several arrests there."

DEA and U.S. Marshals are also assisting with the sting. Law enforcement say prescription pill abuse is the biggest problem, but they're also seeing heroin abuse.

Kevin Fein of New Albany is shocked that his neighbor upstairs, Terry Pulley, was just arrested and charged with dealing drugs.

Fein says, "There is a big problem with prescription drugs, dope and all that crap. They need to take care of it."

Sheriff Seelye says, "Last year, we had Operation Nasty and I think we had 26. This year, we have Operation Nastier and I think we have 33 and we're going to continue doing this as long as the problem presents itself."

Fein says, "I think it's a great idea. They've been doing it for quite awhile now and it sounds like they're getting a handle on it."

The Harrison County Sheriff has this message, as he tries to crack down on drugs.

Seelye says, "If you are going to do something, don't do it in our county because we're going to come after you."

From the warrants, police hope to have all the drug suspects in jail by the end of the week.
