LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- During the holiday season, lots of people put aside a little extra to give to those in need.
The Dare to Care Food Bank says they're seeing an increase in the number of people they're serving around our area. Right now, they're serving about 14 million meals across the 13 counties they support.
Dare to Care workers say they're seeing a big jump in the number of people who are coming to the food bank for the first time. They want to emphasize that they don't just need help during the month of December.
"We're here year-round," said Annette Ball, programs director for Dare to Care. "During the holidays, people tend to think of the food and giving to others, which we really appreciate, so the need is now, but the need is all year."
Dare to Care workers say one in every six people in the community is in need of food assistance.
