LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville father is accused of assaulting his own 6-year-old autistic son.

It happened in the parking lot of Walmart on Dianne Marie Road, near Westport Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway yesterday afternoon.

Police say Gary Cooper shoved the shopping cart his 6-year-old son was riding in into a concrete pole, causing it to crash.

The boy suffered bleeding from the mouth and a possible sprained ankle, according to the arrest report.

Police say surveillance video of the incident was obtained.

Cooper was arrested and charged with fourth degree assault.
