New Jennifer Lawrence film screens in Louisville to benefit West End School

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Critics are raving about Jennifer Lawrence's new film, and tonight a sold-out screening benefited a program for at-risk youth.

The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation hosted a reception and screening event for 'American Hustle' -- at Baxter Avenue Filmworks.

The event raised money for the West End School, a free private school for at-risk males.
Lawrence's mother says the movie star heard about the school from a friend, and wanted to help.

Tonight's event included a cocktail reception and auction before the film's screening.
'American Hustle,' starring Lawrence, Christian Bale and Amy Adams, opens nationwide this Friday.
