LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersonville Police said Thursday that two people who were found dead in a burned out home last month died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
On Nov. 9, police and firefighters responded to a home on Starview Court, near Bluegrass Trail and Hamburg Pike, after they received reports on a housefire. They later found the bodies of Morgan Julius and Courtney Grimm in a bathroom inside.
Today, police announced that both individuals died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds in an apparent suicide pact. Police say they've recovered communications between Julius and Grimm indicating that both planned to end their lives and burn down their home on that date.
Police say they can find no evidence that anyone else was involved.
Police say the couple started dating less than a year before the incident, and had lived together in the house for about six months.
Morgan Julius was the son of Jeffersonville city council member Dennis
Julius. He released this statement on Facebook shortly after the deaths:
"I would like to thank all of the Jeffersonville police and
firefighters for their compassion and professionalism in our family's
hour of need this weekend, as well as so many friends who have extended
their love, support, thoughts and prayers."
