LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Investigators believe a fire that injured one person Friday morning was intentionally set.

Fire officials say the fire started in a first floor apartment just before 10 a.m. at the Executive Arms Apartments on South Third Street.

Everyone was able to get out, but one man in an upstairs apartment was hurt while trying to escape.

"He proceeded by opening his door and [went] into the hallway, and it was filled with smoke," said Capt. Sal Melendez with Louisville Fire & Rescue. "So he couldn't get out that way, so he proceeded by breaking the window. In the process of that, he sustained deep lacerations to both his arms."

That man was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Fourteen people were displaced by the fire.

The arson squad is investigating.
