LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---It may be the toughest secret 21-year-old Baylie Robbins has had to keep.
"We actually were planning it about 2 months prior to the actual event happening. It was just me and my dad," says Baylie Robbins.
Baylie helped with an undercover operation to surprise her mom for Christmas.
Baylie is in the Air Force, and is stationed in Germany.
Last year, she didn't get to make it home to Milton, Kentucky for the holidays.
"It's very, very hard, especially being from such a small town, a small area. Not being able to come home whenever something bad happens, or any kind of holiday. Thanksgiving- I wasn't able to make it home for- so it's really a blessing I got to be home for Christmas this year," says Baylie Robbins.
Her mother, Rhonda Robbins, knew she'd be home for a short trip to celebrate Christmas.
She didn't know she'd be arriving early.
Robbins was first surprised by friends for her birthday and then was told by her husband to unwrap the box. Baylie then popped out!
"It means the world. She wasn't home last Christmas, so I was so glad she was coming home this Christmas, and to come early- she got to spend almost a month with us. It was awesome," says Rhonda Robbins.
Baylie will soon be packing her bags again to head back to Germany.
"It's very hard. I'm lucky she calls me a lot and thank goodness for Skype because that's how I deal with a lot of it," says Rhonda Robbins.
Now, both she and her mom can now hold onto to this video, no matter how far the distance is between them.
"It was amazing. I've always seen videos where people surprise them and they come home early, but it was one of the most amazing moments. I'll never forget it. It was awesome," says Baylie Robbins.
"Definitely the best present I've ever had," says Rhonda Robbins.
Baylie has been in the Air Force for nearly 2 years and still has 4 years left to go.
