LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- With all that rain expected this weekend, MSD crews are on standby in case river levels rise.
With the snow we had and now warm temperatures melting it all, the ground has absorbed extra moisture so any rain we get will likely go into the Ohio.
Residents in flood-prone areas say they're hoping for a flood-free holiday.
"I've replaced my sump pump 3 times but the neighbor over there and over there, their basements flood every year," said Kevin Wilson.
"There's several things our customers can do and if they can help us with this it's huge. If they'll go out today before the event starts and if they have a catch basin in front of their house and just sweep off the leaves or the debris that's there," said Dennis Thomasson with MSD.
MSD has more than 100 employees on stand by for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
