LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Strong storms rolled through the area Saturday night. The rains turned nasty with potential for tornadoes and more severe weather, but damage reports were minimal early in the evening.
According to officials in Hardin and Bullitt counties there have been no reports of structural damage or downed powerlines, but plenty of downed trees.
Parts of Nelson and Larue county are reporting extensive tree damage and several cases of trees blocking roadways near Loretto.
However, parts of the Louisville area have been hit hard with power outages. One Ford Dealership on Preston Highway suffered extensive fire damage to cars when a powerline fell on their lot.
Witnesses who were driving by say they saw what looked like a lightning strike and then cars started to go up in flames. Traffic was stopped on Preston Highway while crews dealt with the ongoing blaze.
