LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Several Louisville area runners are pounding the pavement Sunday afternoon for the 2nd annual Merry Christmas Eggnog Challenge 5K. The event is sponsored by Sweaty Sheep Ministries and helps to raise awareness and funds for Louisville's homeless community.
Runners who participate in the run have the option to stop and have a drink of eggnog at each mile marker during the race.
Funds generated from the run will be used to buy new shoes for Louisville's homeless population.
Choirs will be on hand performing at each kilometer of the race. A holiday dinner and Christmas service will also be part of the event's festivities.
Donations of gently used shoes, sleeping bags, fitness attire, and hygiene products are also being accepted.
The race begins at 3:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park; registration costs $10. Runners may register at www.sweatysheep.com.
