Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---We now know the name of the pedestrian, who was killed early Sunday morning, walking along Dixie Highway.

The coroner identifies the victim as 26-year-old Joseph Allen of West Point, Kentucky.

Police say they received a call around 1:00 this morning that the pedestrian was staggering in the roadway, and had been hit by a taxi.

Joseph Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We were given information that the person may have been in the roadway.  whether he was crossing or walking northbound we simply don't know at this time," says LMPD spokesman, Dwight Mitchell.

The coroner says Joseph Allen died of multiple injuries.

An LMPD spokesman says nobody inside the taxi was injured.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation.
