Schenectady, NY – December 30, 2013 – Wind Works Power Corp. (OTC:WWPW – News), is pleased to announce it has placed an order with Nordex USA, Inc. for up to 60 wind turbines for its 100% owned Thunder Spirit project, which will enable the project to maintain eligibility for the federal production tax credits (PTC).
Thunder Spirit, located in Hettinger, North Dakota, is a 2-phase wind energy project totaling 150 megawatts (MW). A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for approximately 105 MW was signed with Montana Dakota Utilities (MDU) on October 28, 2013.
Nordex is one of the leading wind turbine manufacturers in the world. Its 2.5 MW wind turbine platform has a track record of over 10 years with more than 2,700 installed worldwide. This turbine model is certified commercially proven in the United States by Garrad Hassan, a global leader in wind technology certification.
Laurence Greene, Lead Developer for the Thunder Spirit project, notes “itis anticipated that Nordex will deliver the turbines onsite starting in June 2015 with project completion expected by the end of 2015.”
“With Nordex, we have developed wind energy projects totaling several hundred megawatts over the past 10 years, plus we have over 10 years of successful operational experience with this 2.5 MW class of Nordex wind turbines,” comments Dr. Ingo Stuckmann, Wind Works’ President and CEO. “We are very pleased to be working with Nordex once more, and using such a high quality, proven turbine for our Thunder Spirit project.”
About Wind Works / Zero Emission People
Wind Works now operates 4.6 megawatts (MW) in Germany, in which it has a 49% ownership stake. In addition, Wind Works is developing its permitted and contracted 105 MW Thunder Spirit project in North Dakota, 50 MW of Feed-in Tariff contracted projects in Ontario with Capstone Infrastructure (an affiliate of Macquarie Infrastructure), plus an additional 20 MW on its own; 77 MW of near-term permitted projects in Germany; and a 320 MW project pipeline in the United States.
Our mission is to provide the opportunity for all people to participate in the development of renewable wind energy projects. We believe in making sound, environmentally conscious investments that are good for our shareholders and our planet. To eliminate one person`s carbon footprint of 20 tons each year (for the US), it only takes a modern windmill 2 days by producing approx. 40,000 kilowatt hours of zero emission energy.
