Presbyterian Community Center closes for good Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Presbyterian Community Center is closing for good today.

Board members tried to save the center in the Smoketown neighborhood, but couldn't raise enough money. It provided a childhood development center, daycare and other services to families for more than 100 years.

A large part of the center's financial trouble stems from the demolition of the Sheppard Square housing project, and the loss of hundreds of neighbors.

The building will soon go up for sale.
