LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky's top education official is taking on an additional role.
Terry Holliday has taken over as President of the Council of Chief State School Officers. The national group is made up of state education chiefs from across the country and gets involved in major educational issues.
Holliday says one of the areas he will focus on as President is career readiness. He wants public schools to better prepare students to be ready to move into the workforce or into higher education -- an initiative he has pressed in Kentucky.
He's been the state education commissioner since 2009.
