LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville has welcomed its first newborn of 2014!
Natalia was born at University Hospital's Center for Women & Infants at 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1. Parents Lorna Etse and Stenson Silbanuz were all smiles Wednesday afternoon when they spoke with WDRB photojournalist Kyle Lizenby.
"We didn't know it was going to be this big of a deal -- the New Year's baby!" laughed Silbanuz, noting that he had spoken with several reporters. "I just feel very special."
"She's our first daughter," Etse said. The newborn already has two brothers.
Silbanuz said it was an amazing experience to hold the child for the first time.
"We just can't wait to get her home and show the baby to her brothers."
He also said he wanted to give a shout-out to some very special people.
"We want to thank all of the staff here at the U of L Hospital," he said. "They did a very good job helping her deliver the baby."
