LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---Auto stores across Kentuckiana have been busy this weekend, as drivers prepare for the upcoming winter weather.
At an AutoZone on Bardstown Road, there was high demand for salt, ice scrapers, new windshief wipers, and de-icer.
"We've had a lot of folks coming in looking to get new wipers for their vehicles, making sure they're able to see well, looking at having their batteries checked out and making sure they'll last through the cold. I've had several people run us out of our antifreeze testers to make sure their antifreeze is in good shape," says Store Manager, Chris Brewster
Chris Brewster says with the cold temperatures and snow headed our way, drivers aren't taking any chances.
Customer Susan Burry says she wanted to be prepared.
"Just to be safe and be ready for it I guess if it comes," says Susan Burry.
It's the first time in awhile that she says she's made these preparations.
It also included a quick trip to the grocery store.
"They're out of everything," Burry said laughing.
Whether you'll be out on the roadway or even at home, you're being urged to take precautions.
It's never a bad idea to keep items in your car to keep you warm, should you need them in an emergency.
"An emergency kit is never a bad thing to have in your vehicle. Make sure in case something does go wrong, that you're able to make it through, hanging out in your car along with a blanket," says Chris Brewster.
People are also being advised to go ahead and fully charge your cell phones, tablets and other mobile devices.
That way if a situation arises, or for some reason you were to lose power, you'll be prepared.
