Bloom Elementary to resume normal schedule Thursday after pipe bursts

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --JCPS officials say Bloom Elementary will operate on a normal schedule Thursday, Jan. 8 after a burst pipe forced an evacuation.

A broken sprinkler line forced more than 500 Bloom Elementary students to a nearby church for the afternoon on Wednesday.

So parents picked up their children -- and buses left for regular routes -- from Highland Baptist Church, about three blocks from the school.

The sprinkler line ruptured on the first floor about 1 p.m., and students walked to the church, according to JCPS spokesman Ben Jackey.

An after-school program moved to Highland Middle School.
