LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A crash involving an LMPD officer sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 34th Street and Greenwood Avenue just after 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

An LMPD spokeswoman says the officer was responding to a call about robbery suspects in a stolen car when the crash occurred.

The man driving the Jeep and a female passenger were both taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A witness says she saw the crash and claims the officer struck the Blue Jeep. She claims the officers lights and sirens were on but that the Jeep had the green light.

"I waited and let him go and when I proceeded to turn behind him, he sped up the street as they were traveling west on Greenwood. He ran into and smacked their vehicle," Zorina Wallace said.

The officer was not hurt. The airbags deployed in both vehicles.

LMPD's traffic unit is investigating the crash.
