One person killed in early morning crash

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police were on the scene of a fatal crash at Produce Lane and Jennings Lane, near Poplar Level Road, on Thursday morning.

Police say it took place around 6:30 a.m. A grey Chevy SUV struck a utility pole. The only occupant was the driver, a female in her early 30s. Police believe the vehicle was traveling westbound on Produce Lane, when it hit a patch of ice and lost control, colliding with the pole.

The vehicle struck the pole on the driver's side, police say. The driver was wearing a seatbelt.

It was dark at the time of the incident, and police theorize that the driver wasn't able to see the ice.

Police say Louisville Metro EMS responded, as well as the Camp Taylor Fire Dept.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Louisville Metro Police Traffic Division is investigating.

There were no witnesses, according to police.
