LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a 2-year-old girl was found wandering alone in 12-degree weather yesterday, and now one man is facing felony charges.
It happened Jan. 8, at the Ramada Inn on Zorn Ave., near River Rd.
According to an arrest report, officers were dispatched to the Inn after someone found the child, who was allegedly wandering without shoes or a jacket in the frigid temperatures.
When officers arrived, they say they found a vehicle with a carseat inside, and traced it to Room 109. They knocked on the door of the room, and allegedly found 34-year-old Andrew T. Denham passed out, fully clothed.
Police eventually woke him, but he initially couldn't tell officers where the 2-year-old was. Three bottles of vodka were found nearby, police say, which would have been "in reach" of the child.
Denham allegedly told police that the last time he saw the girl, they were lying in bed where officers found a bottle of vodka.
Police say the 2-year-old opened the door, went outside and couldn't get back in.
Denham was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
